Hongdae on a Saturday is not the Hongdae you saw on Tuesday. The crosswalks are packed, the busking crowds spill onto the street — and the locker bank you were counting on has exactly zero doors left open. We keep an eye on these spots week after week, so here’s what actually changes on weekends, with the numbers.

Two things change on weekends
First: some prices go up. Three spots around Hongik University Station post separate weekend and holiday rates. Everywhere else, the board says the same number seven days a week.
Second: space gets tight. On weekend afternoons — and pretty much all day during cherry blossom season and summer holidays — the convenient locker banks near the main exits fill up. Nothing is more deflating than dragging a 28-inch case to a wall of red “occupied” lights.

Who doesn’t
The in-station lockers, Cocoon, Welcome Center, Annyeong, the Exit 7 day-rate locker, LuggageQ, Musinsa, and Yellow all post one price, every day. On a weekend, a small bag still goes for ₩2,000 per 4 hours at the station, Cocoon, or Welcome Center — same as Tuesday.
How to skip the locker hunt
- Go before noon. Weekend crowds build from lunchtime; morning drop-offs rarely have trouble finding a door.
- Have a plan B. The spots above sit within a few minutes’ walk of each other. Glance at the map and pick a backup before you set out.
- Oversized case? Skip lockers entirely. A staffed counter takes any size, no roulette involved.
- Or just reserve. Kplanz is the one spot here that takes advance bookings — your space is held even on the busiest Saturday, and since it’s staffed, a whole family’s bags go over the counter in one go. There’s a 10% coupon on its listing page, which takes some sting out of the weekend rate.
- Out late? Musinsa closes at 20:30 and Yellow at 23:00. If your Hongdae night is going past midnight, park the bag at a 24-hour spot instead.
