Hongik Univ. Station sits at the intersection of Line 2, the Airport Railroad (AREX), and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. Three lines, one station — drop your bags and your radius suddenly expands in every direction.
“Hongdae” is not one neighborhood. It’s several, each with a different personality, all within walking distance of each other. This post is your compass: which exit to take, which neighborhood you’ll hit, and where to eat once you’re there.

Walkable — no subway needed
Yeonnam-dong (right outside Exit 3)
Gyeongui Line Forest Park (경의선숲길) starts the moment you step out of Exit 3. Travel time is effectively zero. If you’ve got an awkward gap between plans, this is your safest bet — cafés, tiny restaurants, and a long green strip that was once a railway track.

Sangsu-dong · Dangin-dong (toward Exit 7, on foot or Line 6 Sangsu Station)
